Middle School Students Host Mini-Thon

Students from Mount Nittany, Park Forest, and Delta Middle Schools recently came together at PFMS for Mini-THON.

Participants raised $60,115.72 for the Four Diamonds Fund to support pediatric cancer patients. Over the past eight years the event has raised $326,000. The event, modeled after the Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon, is not only a fundraiser but also a partnership between district middle schools.

Not Your Average Faire

Each year a group of students at the high school develop creativity, bolster historical knowledge, overcome age-group barriers, build lifelong friendships and social support networks, and find a place to feel at home. Members of the Renaissance Faire club plan an annual event that transports attendees back in time and benefits organizations like the Youth Service Bureau and State College Food Bank.

Advisors encourage the community to attend the Renaissance Faire this Sunday, May 22, on the field behind Welch Pool from 11:00-5:00.

In recent years, statistics about suicidal ideations and attempts among high school students have been alarming. We value the work of counselors like Paul Brigman, a SCASD grad who is now giving back to the district. Brigman hopes to see counseling and other mental health services destigmatized.
