State College Area High School Cross Country Team to Host First Annual Alumni Mile
On Sunday, September 23, State High alumni, family, and friends will gather at Circleville Park in Patton Township to sweat, reconnect and celebrate shared success. The State College Cross Country Boys and Girls Booster Clubs will sponsor the inaugural SCXC Alumni Mile, in which alumni runners and their family and friends are invited to run the last mile of the State High cross country course located in the park. The run will begin at 3 pm and will be followed by awards and refreshments.

Memorial Field has been the scene of wins, losses, triumphs, heartaches and unforgettable memories for generations of SCASD students. The venue no longer meets the needs of our growing school district adequately, and the field’s facilities are woefully outdated. SCASD has outlined an exciting plan to improve and modernize the facility.
The SCASD Education Foundation brought in $167,810 over the 2017-18 year, a huge jump from the previous year, when the Foundation, still in its infancy, brought in a quarter of that amount. The year before that? The Foundation only brought in a little more than $3k. We spoke with a few of the volunteer, unpaid board members, to understand their passion behind the project, which is finally paying off in huge ways.
