The State College Education Foundation is excited to invite all former State High football players and their friends and family to attend the 3rd annual Football Alumni Night, which will be held on Friday, September 28th – the evening of State High’s game with Central Dauphin East – at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church on 208 W. Foster Ave..

Alumni Night was established to allow football alumni to reconnect with their alma mater, teammates, and coaches. The event also celebrates the history and achievements of State High’s football program. Alumni Night also gives the current players an opportunity to see the pride that alumni have in the State High Football Program and to connect with past players. Each year the State College Education Foundation uses the occasion to honor someone who has contributed the legacy and success of the State High Football Program.

The first annual Alumni Night recognized Matt Suhey, a State High alum and former fullback for the Chicago Bears. Suhey, who was a member of the Bears’ Super Bowl winning 1985 team, spoke about how his experience with State High football contributed to his lifelong success. He also used the event to present the Little Lions with the NFL’s Golden Football Award, which all Super Bowl winners receive and pass onto their high school alma mater. Last year’s event honored Ron Pavlechko, former State High athletic director and former Penn State offensive lineman. Pavlechko, who also coached State High’s football team for 19 years, encouraged hundreds of young players, teaching them about their roles on the team and in the community so that they could be successful and be a valued member of those groups.

This year, the State College Education Foundation is excited to honor five of State High’s football head coaches, including current coach Matt Lintal. This year’s honorees will be:

Jim Williams (Head Coach 1969-1976)

Ron Pavlechko (Head Coach 1977-1996)

Dave Lintal (Head Coach 1997 - 2003)

Al Wolski (Head Coach 2004 - 2013)

Matt Lintal (Head Coach 2014 - Present)

Each of these coaches has made valuable contributions to the State High Football Program and has inspired generations of young players to strive for success both on and off the field.

The event will kick off at 4:45 PM with a reception that will give alums a chance to mingle and catch up with former teammates and coaches. At 7:00 PM alums will then have a chance to return to Memorial Field to join the tunnel as the current players take the field; former players will also have the opportunity to remain on the field during the game, watching from the sidelines. The honorees will then be recognized between the first and second quarters of the game.

State High football alums and their friends and family are invited to register for the event.

We hope to see you there!
