Remember how much fun it was to march in State High’s parades and football games?  You can experience that again this September!  Come join the alumni band at this year’s State High homecoming parade and pregame on Thursday & Friday, September 20 & 21! Come and relive your high school band days! Read more for details.

For newer alumni, playing Anchors Aweigh would be a breeze.  But for older and more seasoned alumni, you may be thinking, “What?  You’ve got to be kidding.  I hardly remember how to play all those notes.”  But that’s the beauty about getting older — it doesn’t matter!  “Oldies” don’t have to play perfectly anymore, and printed music can be provided.  Even those who can only squeak out half of Anchors Aweigh report having a ball just following the State High band down the street.   And Friday’s football pregame brings back fond memories of playing on Memorial Field.

We know there are a lot of band alumni still in the area.  And maybe some who have moved away will be back in town during homecoming.  Come and relive your high school band days!  Here are the particulars:

Parade:  Thursday, September 20.  Alumni band members will gather at the high school near the State High band.  Line-up is at 5:30 PM with the parade starting at 6:00 PM.

Football Game:  Friday, September 21.  Bring your instrument to Memorial Field and gather near the State High band bleachers for instructions on joining the band during pregame.  Please arrive by 6:15 PM.  Pregame is at 6:45 PM.

Any questions and requests for printed music can be made to Shelby (Reichert) Hoy ('75) at slh4@psu.edu or by calling 814-692-2174.  We'd love to have you join us!
