The Integrated Mental Health Team, in collaboration with the SCASD Social Work team, regularly works with the Education Foundation on funding priorities and projects through the Mental Health Matters Fund.  The team recently shared some updates on the incredible impact of your donations and outlined future priorities.

Thanks to generous donor support, there have been approximately 200 distributions of financial support for families in crisis:

  • Nearly $25,800 in gift cards
  • $4,000 in rent and utility bill payment
  • Approximately $1,500 in materials for 50 Mental Health Kits for students to use during telehealth therapy
  • Approximately $12,000 for provider services on team meetings and direct care
  • Approximately $500 for sidewalk chalk to put in food services lunch bags for students
  • Approximately $1,800 for community mask initiative
  • $3,000 for individual kindergarten floor cushions
  • $3,000 for supplies and materials for the secondary level

Anticipated priorities for 2020-2021 include:

  • Continued financial support for families identified by the district’s social work needs assessment (food, clothing, bills)
  • Mental health support for provider payments, personal evaluations, materials and supplies for telehealth sessions

Spending these funds is a cooperative agreement between the district and Education Foundation, so if special situations arise throughout the school year, options and available resources are discussed. Most importantly, your support has made and continues to make a major impact on students and families in our district. Thank you.
