Sherry Farrall’s desire to support SCASD is built on 31 years of working in State High’s Counseling and Learning Enrichment Program, from 1970 to 2001. Through a fund at the Centre Foundation, Sherry supports professional development opportunities for faculty, but she also wanted to do something for students.

“I had not heard of the Mental Health Matters Fund until receiving the (SCASD Education Foundation) newsletter and was looking for a District initiative to financially support that would directly benefit students,” she said. “The Mental Health Matters Fund does that and matches what I spent 31 years trying to do – helping students and their families.”

“I make annual gifts to a number of local charities, but I wanted to make significant gifts to organizations that provide services in areas that are meaningful to me,” she continued, explaining her decision to set up a planned gift to the Education Foundation’s Mental Health Matters Fund in her will.

“Giving through my will seemed to be the best way to do this to assure that I can meet my own financial needs and make a significant impact on something I care about,” Sherry said.

On behalf of SCASD students, faculty and families, the Education Foundation thanks Sherry and all the generous donors who contribute to our thriving district.
