Currently, new dates in the fall are being considered for the 2020 Maroon & Gray Banquet. Our volunteer committee that organizes this event understands that an alternate date may not be possible and is continuing to brainstorm other ways to celebrate our 2020 inductees.

The committee and the entire Education Foundation board is grateful for your support for this annual event. Now in its third year, the Maroon & Gray Society Banquet has raised more than $100,000 for students, including $60,000 for new marching band uniforms and $50,000 for student mental health services.

We look forward to celebrating with you as soon as we can!

Profiles on this year’s honorees will appear in the next issue of FOUNDATION magazine.

· Joyce Lee, Retired Educator

· Thomas Gentzel ’69, Executive Director & CEO, National School Board Association

· The Late Ron Pavlechko, Educator & Coach

· Mark Roland ’91, U.S. Army Special Forces

Beginning in 2018, the Maroon & Gray Society has honored remarkable individuals (including SCASD alumni, faculty, and friends), athletic teams, and clubs whose accomplishments reflect a commitment to pride, excellence, and loyalty. Each year, a class of inductees is selected from among many worthy nominees submitted by community members and alumni from all over the nation and world. The annual Maroon & Gray Society Dinner (typically held in early May) recognizes each new class of inductees and benefits the mission of the State College Area School District Education Foundation. The historically-inspired Maroon & Gray Society logo, designed by State High graduate Eleanor Wing ('15), depicts the "Old Oak" tree that stood for many decades in front of the old State High and represents both the school district's strong roots that anchor our community and the growth and change made possible through education.
