My Mental Health Matters, a new State High advocacy club, started by students and advised by counselors Suzanne Lyke and Patty Devecka, aims to raise mental health awareness and promoting wellness. Earlier this year, members posted student thoughts about mental health’s importance in the North and South buildings.
With 15% of 10th and 12th graders reporting considering and planning a suicide attempt, raising mental health awareness among SCASD students and faculty is a priority within the district. The SCASD Education Foundation is committed to providing a safe, non-judgmental environment that helps students identify mental health issues within the community and how to get help for themselves or a friend.
