HOSA Sets the Bar High at State Competition
It was another amazing year for State High at the HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) State Competition. Of 22 competitors 15 State High students placed in the top three in their category, and they placed in 13 of the 18 categories in which they competed. Three freshmen won first in the state in their categories, and two seniors placed first for the 4th year in a row, each year in a new challenging category. A sophomore was the first student from State High ever to place in the Medical Teams competition. Congratulations to the team and Maryanne Neal, health professions teacher!

Budding Scientists
Park Forest Middle School students won several medals at the Northeast Regional Science Olympiad tournament. Now they are preparing for the state competition!

A Voice for the Arts
Delta Program student Ulysses Yarber was selected as one of the top five Pennsylvania finalists at the Harrisburg Poetry Out Loud competition. The competition is based on students' studies of some of the world's finest poetry, which they then recite, improving their public speaking skills, building self-confidence, and learning about literary heritage.
